3 (gentle) ways for your business to be easily found online without using social media

The more I chat and work with soft-hearted, feminine-essenced women in business, the more I realise how many of them are feeling burnt out or discouraged by social media.

Yet because social media is commonly seen as the number one way to get clients and customers online, many of the women I work with worry about how they can possibly be found online unless they are on social media. They feel like they have to create and show up constantly online, often sharing and selling in a way that does not feel natural.

In particular, I’ve found that the influencer culture on platforms such as instagram and tiktok has made women in more creative, human-centered businesses believe that they need to show up online like an influencer if their businesses are to be successful.

Yet the women I work with are actually not interested in being social media influencers. They want to share their work and creations in a way that feels gentle and authentic, allowing those who naturally resonate with what they offer to be drawn towards them, rather than needing to hustle or be constantly seeking to position themselves as a leader or influencer online.

Much like my clients, when I started my business I also wanted to be able to express and share my creative work online- without being pulled into the hamster wheel of constant content creation, likes and followers.

For this reason, I decided to stick to three gentler strategies- - SEO, blogging and Pinterest.

Now that I’ve had personal experience with these three strategies, I can safely say that I find them far more impactful than social media (as well as this, each strategy supports the other in a way that feels very harmonious and organic).

Using these strategies has meant that I don’t need to use any social media platforms at all for my business (and if you’re thinking that Pinterest is social media- it’s not! It’s actually a search engine, which is why it’s such a good strategy and works so well with blogging and SEO).

If you are a woman in business seeking a softer way of being found online, I highly recommend exploring these strategies and seeing if some (or all!) of them feel like a good fit for you. While I don’t think that there is a ‘one-size-fits-all’ strategy or process for growing your audience and business, for me, these strategies (and the deeper intent behind them) have offered such relief- knowing that I can grow my business without social media, in a way that feels natural, graceful and gentle to my feminine soul.
